Response to Endorsement

I have been asked to respond to the recent endorsement of Duffy at the 7th District Caucus. Note: (Due to a computer virus, our computer system was down for most of the week and we were unable to respond or send out press releases earlier.)

My response:

“My ‘Washington lawyer’ style opponent has shown his true colors by the underhanded and divisive way he manipulated this 7th District endorsement. It was just a few weeks ago that he came to me and assured me he would join me, publicly, in my earlier opposition to a pre-primary endorsement within the Republican Party. Obviously, it was nothing more than a ploy to pull off this contrived endorsement. I see little difference between Chicago style politics and this manipulated endorsement effort by a few select power players within the party. Sean Duffy has proven to me and others that his word means nothing. His condoning of the blatant violation of the 7th district constitution and the caucus rules, on March 6th, indicates he will likely spit in the face of the U.S. Constitution as well.” It will be a cold day in the Republican Party before I am going to let a few power-hungry Republicans rob the people of their right to a fair and open primary election on September 14th.”

“A recent poll we conducted in the 7th district found that 5,097 (78%) voted for me and 1462 (28%) voted for Duffy. It is this endorsement that matters to me, not the 74 individuals who voted for Duffy at the caucus.”

Duffy can continue his behind the scenes manipulations and deal makings as he chums with and learns from his Washington cronies and insiders, and I will continue to do as I have always done, defend and serve those who work and live in the district. Defending our rights and freedom doesn’t start in Washington, it begins right here at home within the Republican Party.
